My opinion
well first off, the minorities are angry because they feel that they are treated differently...well you know, that's not true, and it's not fair either.
Look at the facts: We have bilingual tv programming. Bilingual road signs, signs on doors (entrada etc), and we teach spanish in our schools. I right now am being required of my school to learn spanish because half of america speaks it. There has been numerous improvements of the treatment of minority groups, where i see america as a country of diversity. In diversity, is there such a thing as a minority? aren't we all minorities in a diverse community? There are peoples of every race, religion, and no one race, or religion should be treated differently. There is nothing that prohibits any foreign-speaking LEGAL american citizen of obtaining jobs, or eating where they want, or any segregation whatsoever. So now, the minorities should step back, because they have just as much rights as the others. Just because the majority (as of now) are White Males, that doesn't mean a thing.
America was founded by white, prodestant males from england, and they created families and generations of people. Europeans were also coming over in swarms when the country was first founded. The Spanish claimed land, yes, but there are still heavy populations of people from both spanish and mexican descent in these areas of the south. So my question is...why are people upset at their rights? They have the same rights, and these rights are protected by the Constitution and the Bill of rights. They are in black and white.
Sure, there will always be bigoted people who discriminate against groups or religions, but that is not the government's fault and is the rights given to the minorites are not given by bigoted people. America's systems are blind of color, sex, and religion. They treat people like people and that is how it should be.
That is my opinion, agree or not, reply to me.
