Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
you know anger, i really admire you
you can stick up for anyone And yeah, i heard that she has some experience, but think about it this way:
IF McCain dies while in Office, she will take over. Is she ready to be a president?

Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
Uh-oh....the old fart enters...Hmmmm, let's see, Mrs. Palin actually has executive legislative experience, Obama disses on his own gramma doesn't. Mrs. Palin supports the original constitution penned by our forefathers...Obama went to school on MY tax dollars...as did his only once in her life proud to be an American wife. Ooops! Sorry, I guess being old and having lived in 14 countries and visited almost as many more...I kind of have some strong opinions here. Namely, it ain't perfect, but it's the best I've ever experienced! Stepping off my soapbox now.... But I'm glad to see you all getting involved.

Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
Jenma!!!!! It's GREAT to see you finally posting here!! I've been waiting
Well, i do agree appreciate your contribution to this discussion. I've been under the impression that Mrs. Palin is not nearly qualified enough to be vice president. I didn't know all the facts. I take it that you are a McCain supporter?
My Parents are all for Obama, so what they say is usually going to be the impression that i have
However, i believe that both candidates have strong and weak points that will bring something good and also something bad to America. I do sort of like McCain in the sense that he is experienced. As you may have read in my "what's wrong with the Obama Campaign" thread, i thought that America needs a firm leader and someone with experience politically because only he/she could get America out of the recession that it is currently in.

Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
McCain isn't necessarily my fave...thought he should go get bent last 2 nomination years...but he is the lesser of 2 evils IMHO this time. I'm kind of an anomolie being that I provide mental health services mainly for medicaid recipients and I'm a moderate conservative...to me there's a HUGE difference between trying to enable vs. trying to empower and I'm on a crusade for the latter. Have you read Obama's books yet?...and the Quaran while you're at it? Being Irish-American, I'm getting SOOOOOO fed up with the minority whiners that I'm beginning to think that I deserve restitution for my ancestors being persecuted both in their homeland and in this country when they arrived. Hey, Kirby is, after all, a white male, which makes him the penultimate minority so if I can argue that America owes the Irish, maybe he can milk the system too.....JK...sort of...

Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
What i mean by minority whines is: I really don't like races (including whites) to complain about their mistreatment....think about it, i mean every single race has equal rights if they are law-abiding, legal citizens. We all are equal, but races- i'm using mexican for example, i've seen complain about unequal treatment, even though spanish is one of the most spoken languages in America right now

Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
Yeah that is in fact true and I agree someone from every race does complain. However lets be realistic some races were set at disadvantages. American stole land from the Native Americans and built this country on the back of slaves. So lets keep this in perspective. However I as a black male, understand the hardships that all races have felt at the hands of others. But as far as receiving restitution or reparations I do not think is likely and therefore necessary. However The type of reparations I would like to see for ALL people is an equal education. I know that education is the only way to end poverty. Call me a whiner if you will but I know (first hand) that not every school is equal so that means that not every student has the same shot in life. I went to a poor middle school. We had over sized classrooms, not enough books, poorly trained teaches and trashy learning conditions. LOL I can remember a time where it was 3 to a book.... (Damn shame..lol) So if there is going to be any restitution put it in the form of quality education. If there is going to be any compensation for the hardships put it in up-to-date books, better trained teachers, higher expectations of our teachers and students..... Now when I got to junior high we had to share our 8th grade class with 7th graders so our already oversize class' got that much lager... However when I got to high school things changed I learned so much and was happy to have the same chance at a good education as the children in the richer community across town. Now I am working on getting into college but I said all this not to get pity or anything like that but just to show you that There are in fact differences in education and a lot or people who have never had to struggle do not understand why people from certain races complain. SHIT its hard. So half the times(I said half because there are some people of every race that are underachievers and want to blame it on someone else) people are complaining because they did not have equal rights (ie. equal education). But I am glad that I didn't have everything that others had growing up because its going to make me appreciate it that much more when I get it. I am glad that I had to struggle because it making me the man I aspire to be. I understand the complaints of those that are doing something with their lives because I have lived it and walked in their shoes. But I get what you are saying Mike I just didn't understand what Mrs. Jennma was getting at.

Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
hm....well ron, that really made me think, and i'm sorry about your schooling situation my school is pretty delapetated also, but not that bad...and what i really meant was equal rights, i mean think about it, people use their race (sometimes) to say that they aren't getting equal rights. That is what makes me mad. But you'll have to wait for jennma to explain

Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
Yeah but there is no need to be sorry about my former schooling situation. But I'm just saying what goods are your equal rights if everyone doesn't have an equal education. But yeah your cool mike....lol

Re: McCain Lost bigtime...
Well, where to begin...lol! Firstly, I believe that it was English, Spaniards, and French to name a few who stole the land from Native Americans...whom can only arguably be referred to as "native" when you look at the historical data of this species evolution in conjunction with geographical land mass movement...but I digress...namely, Americans didn't steal America...foreign nations did. As far as this land being built on the backs of slaves, take a look at Egypt, Rome, Great Britain, Germany, Romania, etc...this country didn't invent the abhorrent practice, they simply used the same methods employed by numerous other civilizations...no argument that it is appalling, just that a precedent existed. Education is important and should be equally available to all citizens of this great nation. In fact, I work full-time in an alternative high school [read: a bunch of juvenile delinquents who don't give a rat's aspirin about much of anything and whom no one else in the public school system wants but there's that pesky "no child" legislation so we gotta stick 'em somewhere] and I spend a lot of time processing with them the importance of respecting themselves enough to take advantage of this "last chance" to get an education and not to continue the generational sense of entitlement to rely on the system because it's easier than trying to get ahead through hard work and effort. Granted, these kids don't have much and come from extremely crummy home lives in most cases [I can't imaging smoking weed with my kids or kicking them out or molesting them or beating them or abandoning them] but they ALL have POTENTIAL and OPPORTUNITIES available [I make darn sure to find the opportunities] BUT only THEY can choose to take advantage of these opportunities...and heck no, it's not easy...but anything worth having rarely is. This is also why I am a member of a non-profit philanthropic organization that offers scholarships, grants, and loans to young women and women to pursue higher education...this is a private sector endeavor based on the idea that we are responsible for taking care of each other...not the government...what the original Republican platform was in great part founded upon. Oh, and sorry I almost forgot...I was just asking Mike if he had read Obama's book and the Quaran out of curiousity...since I have lived in Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq...as a female and a Westerner, I have my own opinions and it makes me nervous to think about a man who has stated should it ever come down to it, he'd side with the Muslims...and it didn't sound like in a positive/progressive manner...remember, I've only had the right to vote for 90 some odd years and the suffragettes were imprisoned and tortured by a white male president just for fighting for my right to vote...Afghani women are still being sexually castrated...extremism in any form is a dangerous thing.

Oh, and sorry, not trying to spam, but forgot to say: Dr. Ron, I admire you for fighting for your education and expecting/aspiring to more for and of yourself...I wish more of the kids I work with were like you! And if I can help in any way, ie. trying to locate scholarships/work-study programs, whatever...I can't make any guarantees, but I can promise you a genuine and heartfelt best effort!
